IKEA winter sale

IKEA winter sale

Josh
Nathan
My mother-in-law Teri, Sarah and the younger guys came down on Monday and we trecked IKEA.
Or, at least, I think the guys were with us ……..
IKEA’s winter sale is going on, and some of the prices are down 30-50%. After a little bt of considering, I picked up a few things that I had had my eye on for a while, such as:

the Molger bath organizer for 5.99

There were a few other things that I wanted to get, though I still need to think them over/ talk them over with John:

the Gulliver childrens chair (I want at least two, maybe four) for 7.99 each, half off … which means if we get four we’d only be paying the price of two … but then we’d have to find a place for them ……… maybe?
Not bad at all, especially considering that they’re wood!

the Gulliver childrens table to match the chairs, at 14.99

We’ll have to see. We don’t really need them now, but will they ever be this cheap again? We don’t have a place to set them up, except, perhaps for one chair, but the boxes are flat! Oh, decisions.

Well, we had a great time there, and came back tired, with sore feet and a few goodies. Thanks for coming down guys! It was great seeing you!

prepare Him room II

prepare Him room II

I just started listening to a series of Advent sermons titled “Prepare Him Room”. The first sermon focused on humility, on us humbling ourselves to make room in our hearts for wonder at Christ’s coming. The amazement and glorious wonder of God made flesh is so easily eclipsed by “us” and “me”; when we aren’t lauding each other – or ourselves – we seem to be criticizing or condemning, pitying, loathing. It all adds up to the same thing – being self-centered rather than God-centered.
I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the sermons as they are posted, and also pondering “preparing room” and how it looks in my life, right now.
Saturday morning in December

Saturday morning in December

This, plus reading Luke 3 and the weekend edition of NPR, has been my morning so far. Oh – I made some fudge, too. It was a good and cozy way to spend my snowy morning.

** evening update **

So, I put up my feet for a while and then got antsy, so I made pumpkin banana nut muffins and the dough for soft and spicy gingerbread cookies. And worked on the dishes that had piled up. :) After all of which my wonderful husband came home (to an apartment that smelled like heaven) and told me I needed to put my feet up again while he, tired though he was, got something together for dinner. I love that man.

I listened to a message from this website this morning. It was recorded on 10-1-2006 and was by Gary Rosberg about marriages in America today:
http://houstonsfirstorg.actsgroup.net/audio_sermons.htm

Alot of it was informative, but non-applicable. There were a few parts that stood out, though. Near the end he mentioned three things to look for in a potential spouse (my ears perked up).
1. A teachable heart
2. A broken heart
3. A forgiving heart
Near the beginning he talked about your marital status being your witness, and he targeted Christian couples.

A good message.
