a little frivolity (can be a very good thing!)
John sent me out the door and watched Emma for a couple of hours while I ran errands. There were a few returns to be made, and once those were done I called for a status report, checking to see if I needed to come back. John told me to enjoy myself …… so I went to Macy’s.
I have been wanting to browse the housewares section for a while now, but have been putting it off since the glassware and fine china displays aren’t very stroller friendly. But yesterday I went. It was so nice. It was quite, sparkling, crisp, the sales ladies were friendly (but not pushy) and it smelled so good.
On my way out I stopped by the perfume counter and tried on Chanel No 5, elixir sensuel.
Oh. My.
I dotted a bit behind my ear and on my wrist as I was walking out, and didn’t stop to check the price, because most of the perfumes I try give me a headache and need to be washed off as soon as I get home.
Not this time.
Oh, it smells so good!!!!!!!!
I was just looking at the Macy’s website, and I couldn’t find it there, but I did find it on Sephora. The elixir is about half the price of the parfum, but still more than I’m willing to spend on myself at the the moment. It does smell wonderful, though…………..
I can still catch a breath of it occasionally, and it makes me happy.
Thank you Darling for sending me out the door!
so excited!!!!!!!
Happy shopping!
beautiful notes
I stumbled upon a stationery company called smock this morning. So lovely. All of the stationery is letterpressed, which I absolutely love, and very reasonably priced especially considering how “eco friendly” it is:
sustainably letterpressed on bamboo paper
packaged in a clear sleeve that is petroleum-free, tree-free, and certified biodegradable by the Biodegradable Products Institute
They have several gorgeous wedding suites, a variety of wrapping papers and fill-in invitations, as well as a very nice assortment of artsy-yet-classic correspondence and greeting cards.
So. Lovely.

have you seen these?
random little pretty thing
I saw it at Anthropologie the other day, and thought how nice it would be to have next to the coffee maker or on a tea table. So cute. So sweet. And at $18, it’s affordable, too. But it’s still at the store. Although now that I’ve been thinking more about it, I think it may be something that I would enjoy for years to come, something that our children could look back and remember. If nothing else, it would bring a smile to my face in the morning. :)
rainy day
There is nothing better on a rainy day than a cup of cinnamon-laced coffee and a crowing baby. Other than having the baby’s daddy here, too, of course. But he’ll be back soon, and then we can enjoy the rain, the coffee, and our precious little baby together.
She is a little sunshine today, happy and cooing after a 12-hour night(!).
We are spending our morning nursing, listening to the rain through the open porch door, listening: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=313867933 (to the one on worry – good words, brought by Curtis Jones), nursing, napping (that’s Emma’s part), sewing and tidying up.
Oh, and trying to stay away from the cookies: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/ne-plus-ultra-cookies?lnc=ef2e802fb632c110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&rsc=cookie+of+the+day_recipe_b They do go well with coffee.
adorably precious
I ran across the artwork of sarahjanestudios this evening, and just love it. She sells prints and greeting cards with delightful images of children and animals on them, all with a slightly French feel. The images are simple and have such soft colors; they remind me of the books Pat The Bunny and Babar. So delightful. Love them.
The greeting cards are smaller than the art prints, but so much cheaper. Wouldn’t it be fun to order a few to frame?

cute clothes make the day better
Emma and I have been having a …… trying day. We have been bothered by what seems to be some very uncomfortable gas in her tummy. Nothing I have done has been able to calm her for long. So, knowing that a cute baby is harder to be upset with and to reduce the likelihood of frustration on my part, I put her into one of her adorable outfits. I’m not sure if it made her feel better, but it helped me.
feeling inspired …
… to pull out the sewing machine and sew up a dress or two for Emma Grace. These little dresses and outfits are just too cute. Of course, it probably won’t happen today. But soon (I hope)! Maybe when she has fallen asleep for a few hours ….
