Hello there! I'm Elizabeth. Welcome to my website and blog space. All the products in my little shop are hand crafted and stem from my desire to provide creative and high quality products that make people feel lovely. I believe the little moments of life matter, every day should be celebrated, and that the beauty all around us is a gift from the Creator to be enjoyed. I'm married to a wonderful guy who happens to be my greatest cheerleader and best friend, mama to three little ones and currently reside in the heartland of America.
It’s beginning to look like Christmas

It’s beginning to look like Christmas

or at least, it did while I took these photos :)

One of the things our cookie cutter {but absolutely wonderful for us right} house does not have is a fireplace, and I miss having a fireplace. Not just on rainy days, snowy days, days when I really don’t want to get out of my jammies, but also on days when I really need to get some product photos for our shop taken. So, I came up with a solution – create a faux fireplace/cozy area!

creating a faux mantel in your home With all this coziness, you almost don’t notice that the actual fireplace isn’t there :)DSC_0040 DSC_0041For me, a cozy fireplace spot is made up of a great chair, complete with welcoming warm throw and cushy pillow, a spot for a warm drink, soft glowing light, and a mantlepiece {and, of course, a fireplace ….}.DSC_0019 Notice I was able to pull together all but the fireplace? The photos I needed were for some new Christmas products so I added in some garland, a tinsel tree and lots of candles. Candles have been my answer to not having a fireplace for years {here and here}! DSC_0020 I just love how the luminaries glow, and how the light reflects off of the gold shimmery banner!DSC_0021 DSC_0022 It was so fun to put this little area together, and as soon as I can get our Thanksgiving decorations put away, I’m going to put all of this back up. :)DSC_0027 And of course, having a bottle of wine to share with your love as you get cozy together is wonderful! {and with our new leather gift ties, they’re a pretty fun hostess gift, too!}DSC_0066 DSC_0033What do you think? Do you have a fireplace that you’d like to cozi-fy a bit? Or do you need to create a faux fireplace in your home, a place to get cozy and rest in the midst of the holiday hubbub {and winter chill}?

customer love – a gorgeous baby shower for twins!

customer love – a gorgeous baby shower for twins!

A few months back I was contacted by a woman who was throwing a baby shower for her friend who was having twins {a boy and a girl!}. She wanted the colors to be gender neutral {but not boring}, and our Navy, Mint, Coral, Cream and Gold Confetti Garland caught her eye. She loved the colors, and had a few ideas of other things to add to round out the decor she had in mind. But first Andrea had one important request – the decorations had to be in Texas by the following Saturday. Wow-ee! I was in love with the idea, though, and we made it happen. :)Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Andrea wanted a bunch of paper pinwheels in a variety of sizes, and in colors to coordinate with the garland. I had been wanting to make some for a while {have you seen the pins of some of the lovely pinwheels floating around Pinterest? Soooo gorgeous!} and was delighted to have a good excuse to learn how!Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Navy, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Mint, Coral and Gold Pinwheels on the Path Less Traveled Everything got made up quickly and shipped in time to arrive with a day or two to spare {I love FedEx!!!!}. Afterward the tea party, Andrea sent me these photos of how everything came together:A modern baby shower for twins (and boy and girl!) on the Path Less Traveled She threw a gorgeous affair, didn’t she? The baby shower had a tea party theme, and the food she served looks amazing.A gorgeous gender neutral shower for boy and girl twins on the Path Less Traveled

I love how Andrea used the garland as a front drape for the buffet table – it added such a classic, elegant feel to the party!delightful cupcake with a modern twistShe requested some custom cupcake toppers in mint and coral, and once they arrived she paired them with these lovely navy blue cupcake wrappers for a clean and elegant look. {if you’d like to achieve a similar look for an event, we have since added cupcake wrappers to our shop!}a cream tea baby shower in vibrant modern colors - perfect for boy and girl twins!a shower for boy and girl twins

Andrea, the party was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for allowing to share in the joy of the occasion us by sharing the photos, and blessings to the new mama and babies!

 Autumn Leaves Chair Banner

How do you jump back into a game when you’ve been absent for so long? The good news is, this corner of the web has been quiet because life has been very, very good. So good, so full, that all my “little grey cells” are getting used up every day, all my energy poured out, and there really hasn’t been anything left to share with you here (because, really, you lovelies deserve so much more than the dregs of me!).

Anyhow, life keeps moving (meaning, there is much to catch you up on!) and changing, and it’s beginning to look like one of those changes might be me returning to this little space a little more often! I’ve missed you all so.

Geometric Banners

Geometric Banners

If you’ve been following us on Twitter, Instagram or Pinterest you might have noticed this already, but we’ve been working hard to add some new items to the shop! I’ll let Olivia show you. :)

the Path Less Traveled - white bunting the Path Less Traveled - white bunting the Path Less Traveled - white bunting the Path Less Traveled - white bunting the Path Less Traveled - white bunting the Path Less Traveled - white bunting the Path Less Traveled - white buntingIsn’t she just the cutest thing ever?! And now don’t you want your own (garland I mean, not baby girl ;D)?

We have these available in vintage map (some of you saw the preview here), vintage music, vintage book and colored cardstock (shown in white, but available in all colors). And we have them all available in the chair garland length, too!

I love how these can be customized almost endlessly, that they echo the current geometric-loving trend, and that they resemble the classic white fabric buntings (remember them from the village celebrations in Downtown Abby, anyone?) – there’s just so much to love about these! So far I’ve already used them as ceiling decorations and photo backdrops/props, and Emma Grace has requested a “triangle party” for her next birthday (she likes to plan her birthdays far in advance). Imagine how gorgeous a bunch of them would be at a wedding!

Be Kind

Be Kind

I know I’ve said it over and over and over, but I’ll say it again – I love custom orders. :)

A few days ago a teacher emailed to ask if I could make a custom banner for her classroom. She had something very specific for the phrase {it is going to be one of the focuses for her class this year} and colors {school colors, of course!} in mind, as well as a budget she needed to keep within. All of those factors came together, and we were able to make this fun reminder for her students:Black, Gold and White "BE KIND" Banner Black, Gold and White "BE KIND" BannerAs I was stringing the letters onto the ribbon I kept thinking “our kids need this! Maybe I should make another for their bedroom … or one for the bedroom, the playroom, the dining room …” :D

“Be kind” {Eph. 4:32} is one of the things we have been drilling into our little ones {along with “treating each other with love” and resolving conflicts amongst themselves before dragging Dad or Mom into it} and sometimes it seems like we’re actually making progress! And then the next moment I realize that ….not so much. It’s a day by day, moment by moment endeavor, and quitting at any point along the way is not an option. So yes, “Be Kind” banners for everywhere!

What phrase or word would you like to see in your home? And do you you think you’d like to see “Be Kind” in the shop?

hello again, Loves!

hello again, Loves!

Well, hello again :)

It has been  …far too long. And I apologize for the site being down for FOUR months {Gah!!! Too long!!!}! There is so much that I missed sharing with you, so much that has happened in our lives.

How has your summer been? {and spring also, since I was gone for that, too!}

backyard funWe have been so incredibly busy with the shop, and God has been leading our little family with it {more on that later}.

backyard funSummer has been cool here, and the kids have been growing like weeds. Olivia is talking, and talking about everything {so, so incredibly sweet}.

I can’t wait to catch up with you lovelies in the days and weeks to come, and share some of the projects we’ve been working on! In the meantime, I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to {vacations? new babies? home projects?}.

“The Plan:

Our residents are invited to stay in the program for a minimum of two to four years, but our desire is to support each mom and baby throughout their lives. Each girl earns money through our Sustainable Skills Program and it will be dispersed over a long-term period to continue their education and even start a business as a part of our Graduate Program. Since our residents are at-risk- abused and even orphaned, we will assist them for as long as needed. We want to be their forever family and will tailor our help to each girl’s situation. Our goal is quality, not quantity and total discipleship.

It is the desire of The Mercy House team to fulfill Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good: And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and love mercy, to walk humbly with your God.”

Their blog about the House has wonderful updates about the ministry, the mamas and babies, and ways that you and I can help. Also, you can follow along with Kristin Welch’s {the founder} blog here.
